Canadian Friends of Israel Hockey

The Canadian Friends of Israel Hockey was founded in Montreal in 1991 by David Lisbona and Larry Markowitz. Since its inception, the organization has sent hundreds of pounds of ice hockey equipment to Israel and in the early nineties, published a newsletter entitled "The Hockey Shtick". The group continues to collect equipment for hockey programs throughout Israel through its collection box situated at the Samuel Moskovitch Arena in Cote Saint-Luc, a predominantly Jewish district in Montreal. There are also collections that take place in Ottawa and Toronto. The CFIH supports both grassroots efforts right up to the Israeli national team. For more information regarding its activities, contact CFIHockey@gmail.com

The CFIH has also begun to forge a relationship with Hockey without Borders/Hockey sans frontières, an organization which assists in sharing the gospel of hockey throughout the world.

The CFIH is also working closely with the Israeli Figure Skating Association and is striving toward the inclusion of the sport in the 2021 Maccabiah Games in Israel.
